What is Midtown K-12 News?
Midtown K-12 News is a USFSP Neighborhood News Bureau program to improve media and journalism education in South St. Petersburg. USFSP NNB students work with local teachers and programs to develop curriculum, enhance student learning, provide hands-on training, develop experiential learning and field trip opportunities and much more.
NNB students work as interns or volunteers with one or more programs providing assistance to the teachers and media managers. Our NNB students work in the classrooms and newsrooms on a weekly basis and report back to our K-12 liaison and to the NNB faculty supervisor.
The faculty advisor and the K-12 liaison, a graduate student with experience in K-12 education, work together with each program coordinator to develop curriculum to improve the learning experience in each school.
If you work with or are planning to develop a media-related program for your school, church or non-profit organization serving the population of Midtown and South St. Petersburg, please contact us.
